Mobile operator Smart yesterday announced that its nationwide series of concerts and races that begins on Saturday will end with a performance in Phnom Penh on December 12 by UK-born singer and songwriter Jessie J, who is popular here for her hits “Price Tag” and “Flashlight.”

The Smart International Mega Concert is grand finale of the previously announced Smart Mega Concert and “I am the Fastest” competition across all 25 provinces. It begins on Saturday in three provincial capitals: Banteay Meanchey, Koh Kong and Pursat.
The competition aims to promote Smart’s 4G network nationwide by associating it with speed and agility, executives at the company said.
The company also said yesterday that it is taking a step to promoting intellectual property rights through its music app.
“We are signing a strategic memorandum of understanding with local production houses, such as Rainbow (Sunday), Town Production, M Production, Bigman Production, I’mTelco and Sun Records Asia, aiming to promote positive change in Cambodia’s music industry,” Mr. Hundt said. “I hope by bringing such world-class entertainment... into town kicks off a mindset change amongst consumers as well as music industry participants to respect legal music and intellectual property rights of artists,” he said, adding: “With our Smart Music App, everyone can afford to listen, download and enjoy legal music with no boundaries while at the same time contributing to the artists.”
Smart Axiata also announced yesterday that it will begin selling the latest iPhone models on November 13 – the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Smart subscribers can pre-order the phones from November 6. They start from $728 each. The company also offers its subscribers a 24-month installment plan for purchasing the phones, it said. “Smart is still the exclusive and official Apple telecom operator partner in Cambodia,” Mr. Hundt said.
